Creating My First Online CourseSo, I've been off the grid for a while writing my first online course. It's called Emotional Intelligence: Master Your Emotions. The course focuses heavily on mindset education and teaches you a three-step method to help you manage your emotions better. Because when you learn to master your emotions, you feel more in control which:
The course includes the following:
The ProcessI've been a learning professional for over ten years, so I thought writing this course would be easy. I had it all mapped out in my head and a nifty project plan to go along with it. I estimated 30-days to write the course, 7-days to record, 7-days to edit, and then the course would be up and running. But, it didn't quite work that way. It did take about 30-days to write the course, but I quickly realized that even though I'm well-versed in training, I didn't know the process for the online platform that I was writing the course for, which changed the game. So, I spent the next 30-days taking a class on the best way to write, market and sell a course specific to the platform. It was an eye-opening experience. I had to do a slight rewrite, but the end result was a much better product. The other thing that I did not take into account was the submission process for the course, which was more extensive than I originally anticipated. The upside is that I now know what to expect from the process, and I have a better system for completing the work. It all comes back to not only having a system but one that works efficiently. Perseverance & PersistenceIn the latter part of the process, I started to feel weighed down and antsy, because it felt like things were moving too slow. I ran across this passage that kept me encouraged. It says: With perseverance and persistence, I create an exceptional life. I always thought the words perseverance and persistence meant the same thing. I wanted to understand what the author of the quote meant, so in typical Latarsha fashion, I looked for definitions. Here are two definitions that I found:
I was also determined to finish the course, no matter what. I don't mind changing directions when it makes sense. That's normal for me. What I don't succumb to is giving up. Seeing things through matter. It's how you honor your word. So, as I developed a course on "how to master your emotions," I found yet another way to master my own. I love that about life. As long as you're open to being a student, it is your forever teacher. So, this time instead of promoting someone else, I am promoting me. I am the person that I am spotlighting. It feels weird, but I must learn to market myself better, and this is my crash course. So, I am asking "you" to help "me" have a BESTSELLER course. That would really ring my bell!
