Lean CanvasA lean canvas is a one-page actionable business plan for entrepreneurs. Ash Maurya created the Lean Canvas to help entrepreneurs find a problem for a customer that is worth solving. The model uses an adaptation of Alex Osterwalder's Business Model Canvas. A lean canvas can replace a traditional business plan with a single page model that is more flexible and adaptable for entrepreneurs. It provides small business owners with a quick snapshot based on nine business blocks:
This video shows Ash Maurya explaining how to complete a lean canvas The Magic of Thinking Big I've always considered myself to be a pretty big thinker. I was the person who dreamed of singing on stage in front of millions of people. I love performing, and the idea of making a lot of money was appealing. But as I got older, I didn’t like the exposure, which is why my music career never took off. Anyway, because I love music, I stay plugged in as much as possible. I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show one day, and he talked about a book he read years ago called The Magic of Thinking Big. The title alone was enough to peak my interest, so I bought it. Since I became a coach, thoughts and feelings are more important to me than ever before. Although most of us think a lot, we don’t always "think about what we are thinking about." Coaching has taught me to be a mindful and intentional thinker. Your emotions are a tell-tale sign of what you feel and what is happening in your life. I firmly believe that thoughts create things, so not only am I determined to get the things I want out of life, but I am committed to helping my clients do the same. And, I welcome any tool that I can use to reach these goals. In The Magic of Thinking Big, David Schwartz offers principles to help you live a happier and more fulfilled life. According to Schwartz, thinking big is about believing big, respectably conducting yourself, and being open to change when necessary. The moment you consciously determine what you want, you by default decide what you don’t want. When you look at thinking this way, it creates the power and energy you need to live a successful life. Schwartz teaches you to use creative thinking skills to set and reach goals, earn more, lead better, stop excuses, end procrastination, and alleviate fears. For a few years now, my morning routine has consisted of a mind-body-spirit practice that includes reading and usually listening to something inspirational, meditating or doing deep breathing, and working out. I also keep a journal to stay focused on what’s important to me. What I didn’t know until recently is that this is the same routine that most successful people follow. They take time first thing in the morning to set their intention and tone for the day. I can honestly say that it makes a difference for me. And, if I skip these practices for any length of time, I can tell. I feel out of sorts and off balanced. I strongly encourage you to start a morning custom based on what feels right for you. Because if you believe that thoughts create things as I do, the morning is a beautiful time to discover the things you want. You can find The Magic of Thinking Big wherever you buy books.
